Last year I set a goal to run at least 1,000 miles in a year. Well 11 months into I hit my goal of 1,000 miles of total runs! I still have a month to go before I hit the year mark as well. I simply love this!

1,000 Miles Down! Less than a year later...

Why I run...
“There are as many reasons for running as there are days in the year,
years in my life. But mostly I run because I am an animal and a child,
an artist and a saint. So, too, are you. Find your own play, your own
self-renewing compulsion, and you will become the person you are meant
to be.”

The Freedom of Running
Today while running I began thinking about the positive benefits of running. Not just the physical benefits but more about the mental benefits. The freedom of it all.For me running gives me freedom inside, freedom to think, be creative and inspired. You may see me running down the street or path but in reality I am not there. My mind is in place of harmony and energy. A place where my mind can bounce around without limits and be myself. It's here where I dwell about and recharge my soul. After a run this energy carries with me as I fall back into reality. I use it to move forward, gather new ideas and guide me towards my dreams. All this sounds really deep and that's just how running makes me feel. A deep freedom inside.

Running Log / Wednesday 6-24-09 (6 Miles-Treadmill)
After 2 days of running outside in the heat I decided to take today's run inside on the treadmill. At first it was uncomfortable running inside in the air conditioning. Something about running outside in the sunshine makes for a better run. Though it was a nice change of pace for this week and I completed 6 miles. It was a good fast pace run, nonstop and finished it out strong. This puts me at 21 miles already this week so not sure if I'm taking tomorrow off running or not.

Running Log / Friday 6-22-09 (GET FUELED!)
How do I do it? Some people ask that question and I often wonder that myself. Running that is, in this heat and humidity! Today was clear and sunny and felt like 104 degrees! I put my running shoes on, shades on and music on full blast and chugged out 8.3 miles or so. I started off at a good fast pace but as the miles went on I did slow down some. The heat was incredible and actually fueled me and gave me great energy and a rush of sorts. Today's run is a perfect example of why I do this, for the fuel of course! The fuel to push on and keep working hard! The heat only amplifies it. Get fueled and get out there, push yourself!

Running Log / Friday 6-18-09 (HOT, HOT & HOT)
This week my mileage has decreased because I have been running more outside this week and with the Florida summer in full effect, the heat and humidity combined have made my runs grueling to say the least. I have put out my full effort this week but with limited results. I think my next run will be in the air conditioning on the treadmill!

Running Log / Friday 6-11-09 (Course Run)
Hit the course of 9 miles today up into town and back. It was sunny and about 95 degrees out! So this run was very challenging for me. I kept at a pretty consistent pace all the way through without stopping. I hydrated myself pretty well before heading out though by the time I hit mile 8 I was dying of thirst but kept the legs in motion. Before you know I was at my doorstep with 9 miles completed! So this puts me at 23 miles already this week and it's only Thursday. I'll take a rest day perhaps tomorrow then back at it over the weekend.
